beauty

March 5, 2007

She doesn’t need to be beautiful. Her voice
is parted barley.

She laps you like a stream
winds you through new countries.

Afterwards, she curls outside in a corner
happy as a leaf, lucent,

cherished by the breeze.
Her song is still in her sight, lives

through the galaxy, each pad of legato
a star hop, novas accents,
nebulae whirls of vibrato.

She doesn’t need to be beautiful. She has friends
in high places.

  1. hmmm…nice. reminds me, in the oddest way, of a folk song, and that’s not the insult you might take it for

  2. Thankyou peterandthehare. I wouldn’t take it for one at all. I introduced you to Suzanne Vega, didn’t I? Now, if you compared it to gabba music I might have to consider my word choices.
